Christmas tree recycling 2014

Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday.  We are starting to collect Christmas trees at the top of the garden (close to the tennis courts).  We are partnering with streets and sanitation and they will help us pick up trees but it is also very helpful if you bring your tree to this location.  Remember, the trees need to be clean of ornaments, lights and weird spikes. When the trees are mulched we will use the mulch in the garden.
Thank you for your help with this. I'm so proud we can pull this off!

First annual garden cookout!

I am so happy we are finally having our first cookout with everyone that leases a bed at the community garden! I had gotten out of the habit of posting but I'm back and ready to fill you in with every garden detail.  Look for photos from the cookout.

Hummingbird in the pollinator garden!

I am still so amazed at how beautiful the pollinator garden is and well it's doing. If you needed proof I just saw a hummingbird enjoying it

Watering like this is much faster!

The Homewood Fire department showed up at the garden to do some training. They were nice enough to help with watering the garden!

So much basil!

We harvested the basil last night. It was amazing how much came off just 2 plants! We made a lot of pesto and froze it so the kids at the middle school can eat it when summer is over
